Tyla is ready to drop. The South African superstarlet is on the verge of releasing her eponymous album at the end of the week, and fans are hungry to get it into their hands. Tyla is just as excited to unleash the project onto her adoring worldwide fanbase, and she’s kicking off her big release week by unveiling TYLA’s tracklist and featured artists.
The GRAMMY Award winner fills in the blanks on the 14-song tracklist. Joining her 2023 single “To Last,” the global hit “Water,” the Travis Scott-featuring “Water (Remix),” “Truth Or Dare,” “Butterflies” and “On And On” are eight new songs. Of note are the tracks “No. 1” featuring fellow African songstress Tems, “Intro” with South African DJ Kelvin Momo, “Jump” alongside rapper Gunna and DJ Skillibeng and “On My Body” where she’ll be accompanied by Latina singer Becky G.
Although it’s the best of times for Tyla, the joy of release week also comes with the unfortunate reality that she was recently forced to cancel her first world tour. The TYLA Tour, which was scheduled to begin this week in Norway, had to be called off due to a persistent injury.
“For the past year I’ve been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened,” Tyla shared in a statement posted to her socials. “I’ve seen doctors and specialists with high hopes, but the pain has only become more agonizing as has the severity of the situation. I am absolutely heartbroken to have to say this but as of right now I won’t be able to proceed with the tour. In consulting with medical professionals, it’s become increasingly clear that continuing any festival or tour dates would jeopardize my long-term health and safety.”
Tyla may be putting the brakes on hitting any stages for the foreseeable future, but she’s full speed ahead with promoting her highly anticipated debut. TYLA the album will be released on Friday, March 22nd and can be pre-saved/pre-ordered before the big day.
