Full Crate is a man on fire. His viral remix of Jungle’s “Back On 74” is still doing numbers and remains inescapable on social media. He is taking that momentum and making sure that folks don’t sleep on his original music as a performer. To that end, he’s enlisted Shaé Universe to join him on the duet “Stay.”
With Crate on production and lyrics co-written by the two artists, Shakka, Andreya Triana and Ånanę, “Stay” looks good on paper and sounds even better. Full Crate and Shaé ensure that with tender vocals that blend beautifully with each other and the soulful instrumentation. They play the roles of two people trying to fight their feelings, but love has come calling.
Right after the bass line drops in, Crate kicks the song off. “I was not looking for love, but then I saw you / You got my vision really blinded by you / And I want you to know / You make me feel oooh / And now I'm busy falling for you,” he freely admits. Universe then comes through with the lovesick lyrics, “Babe, it doesn't seem fair / When you round the way / The memories fade every passing day.” He follows with the sweetest question, asking, “Call it gravity / How can I not fall for you?" which is a query they circle back to throughout the song as their feelings whirl around them.
“Stay” is Full Crate’s first new release of 2024, and he was excited for its drop. “Hope y’all love this record as much as we do! Writing and producing this has been such a beautiful and exciting experience!” he shared on Instagram on the song’s release day. “Thank you Shaé Universe for wanting to do a record with me, been a fan ever since I heard ur music!”
Shaé left a comment on the post that was just as glowing. She wrote, “when Full Crate calls the only answer is yes! thank you for putting so much care and attention into the creative process of this song...you’re a genius, and it was an honour.”
