Tamar Braxton Craves Attention In ‘Notice Me’

Tamar Braxton is on her birthday behavior. The youngest member of the Braxton clan is celebrating her 47th birthday on March 17th, and she’s kicking the celebrations off early. This year to commemorate “St. Tamar’s Day,” the songstress surprised her legion of Tamartians with the release of her new single “Notice Me” and its music video.

“Notice Me” – both the song and its visual – is Tamar at her most personal and vulnerable. After being involved over the past year in a very public relationship, engagement, break-up, reconciliation and second engagement, her love life has become its own reality show playing out on social media. Behind the drama, though, Braxton isn’t playing the fool. She has some things to get off of her mind to a beau who just won’t do right.

Tamar sings straight from her broken heart on “Notice Me.” She begins the song with its catchy albeit sad chorus, singing, “One day you’ll notice me / One day / One day you’ll notice me / The girl that loves you / Do anything for you / One day you’ll notice me.”

She goes on to sing on the first verse, “Can’t wait for tomorrow, you gon’ learn today / That it is what it is at this point / I hope you wake and realize that I’m one of a kind / If I hold on tight then maybe one day.” Braxton yearns for the attention of the one she loves and wonders who she has to be to get some reciprocity.

In the “Notice Me” visual, Tamar is in full glam with hair and makeup but dressed all the way down in a pair of Hanes tighty-whities and a sleeveless t-shirt that reads “JR LAW” – from her fiancé Jeremy “JR” Robinson’s law firm – on the chest and across the back. We’re not sure if Tamar is trying to tell us something about her relationship via this song and what she’s wearing in the video, but it’s enough to make you go hmmm.

The video opens with Braxton frantically running down a long hallway. In the next scene, she enters her bedroom, which is where the majority of the action takes place. We watch as she sings and poses on the bed, while seated on the floor and laying against a mirror, which shows the singer’s reflection. The scene of her in the hallway flashes a couple more times, but it’s never clear who or what she’s running from or to.

“Y'all ain't ready for this!” Tamar shared on YouTube in the caption of the “Notice Me” clip. “This video is everything – it’s raw, it’s real, and it’s me pouring out my heart, wanting that love and recognition we all crave.”

We hope that Tamar Braxton gets the love and recognition she references and all of her heart’s desires for her birthday this year. “Notice Me” may not be the happiest or most celebratory song, but we’re nonetheless glad to receive this gift of new music from Tamar.
