Kenyon Dixon has a full plate, and he’s keeping his fans well-fed. He’s currently in rehearsals for not one but two whole tours – his The R&B You Love Tour, which kicks off Memorial Day weekend at the inaugural TwoGether Land Festival in Dallas, and PJ Morton’s Cape Town To Cairo Tour later this year. He’s also still fanning the flames of his 2023 album The R&B You Love with the March drop of The R&B You Love: Soul Of The ’70s EP, the first in a series of themed deluxe EPs. As he prepares for the next installment, The R&B You Love: For The ’99 And The 2000s, Dixon gives us a sneak preview of the project with the single “Still.”

R&B Kenny is trying to get that old thing back in more ways than one on “Still.” Sonically, the song featuring co-production by Frank Rose and the maestro Adam Blackstone on bass, is a feel-good R&B groove straight out of the early aughts. Lyrically, Kenyon paints a picture of him pining over an old flame who he can’t get over, and he wants to make his ex-girl his next girl.

“Been searching ever since / Trying to find something new / Every road I take / Just leads me back to you / Recalling memories, I just end up confused / I love the rhythm we had, but hate the blues,” he sings, pushing his pride aside and letting a little vulnerability peek through.

Dixon lays all his cards out on the chorus, however. “You’re still on my mind, mind, girl / You’re still on my mind / You’re the only one I’m thinking of / Even after all this time, time, girl / You’re still on my mind / Could you be the one, it this true love? Is this true love?” He certainly sounds like a man in love to us.

“‘Still’ is a very special record to me & honestly 1 of the best records I’ve ever made,” Dixon flexed on X/Twitter. “It’s the Art of TEMPO without losing the SOUL which is 1 of the things I really love abt early 2000s R&B. So this is a reminder that it can still exist.” Yes it can, indeed!

“Still” is Kenyon Dixon’s first solo single of 2024, and it is a certified bop and banger. He hasn’t shared a release date or any additional details about The R&B You Love: For The ’99 And The 2000s yet, but with this track leading the way we already know it’s going to be fire.
