Mary J. Blige’s latest release isn’t music. Instead, the icon is finally giving her fans what they’ve wanted for years. The Queen Of Hip-Hop Soul has partnered with Italian luxury footwear and fashion designer Giuseppe Zanotti to create a signature shoe, The Mary Boot.
Blige made the big announcement over the weekend on stage at her Strength Of A Woman Festival & Summit 2024 in New York City. While headlining Saturday night’s concert and wearing her brand-new boots, she paused her performance to share the news.
“The Mary boot is here! Everybody has been asking, there ya go!” she informed the audience of thousands at Barclay’s Center. “Happy Mother’s Day, ladies!”
Giuseppe Zanotti unveiled the boots worldwide via Instagram on Mother’s Day. They posted a carousel of photographs of the superstar rocking her namesake boots and a fierce brown catsuit. The caption read, “Giuseppe Zanotti and Mary J. Blige have transformed their longtime friendship into an exclusive, limited-edition collaboration. Introducing ‘The Mary Boot,’ a stunning over-the-knee boot co-designed by the two talents.”
The company went into more detail on their website, writing, “The Mary Boot encapsulates the unique and celebrated styles of both talents. Statement boots have long been associated as a signature of Mary's style and through this collaboration, using striking and innovative design, fine materials and attention to detail, the two have come together to make the Must Have style of the season.”
These boots are most definitely a wardrobe essential for Mary J.'s fashionista fans. The Mary Boot is a thigh-high boot made of metallic rose-gold synthetic fabric. It features a 105 mm/4.134 in heel and a leather sole with Mary J. Blige and Giuseppe Zanotti’s respective logos. Made in Italy, the shoe is available in women’s sizes US 6/IT 36 through US 12/IT 42. The Mary Boot retails for $1295 exclusively on the Giuseppe Zanotti website.
MJB and Giuseppe Zanotti go way back. She shouted out the designer brand on the single “Enough Cryin’” from her 2005 album The Breakthrough. “Catch me with the B’s / On the wheels, Giuseppe on the heels,” she rapped as her alter ego Brook Lynn on the track’s bridge.
“Enough Cryin’” is actually the perfect song to break out into a Mary Bop when your order of The Mary Boot arrives in the mail. Jog your memory when you watch the video below.
