Sidibe led us into a musical oasis earlier this year when she released her EP Diamond In The Desert. Since then, she's given us surprise bonus track "Everywhere You Go" and a stripped version of the title track. Now she's back to keep serving up more of what we want with a stripped version of her lovely song "Tellin' U."
As with all the stripped versions of her songs, the new acoustic take on "Tellin' U" is just as lush and gorgeous as the original but with a more intimate feel. The singer's vocal is backed by simple piano and slight strings to provide the melody. However, her vocal is the true star.
Sidibe's voice is soft and gorgeous, with her showing breathy restraint on the verses and soaring on the chorus. The stripped-back version also allows us to hear how beautifully layered her backing vocals are. The stacked vocals support her leads like pillows, making this a blissful experience that you'll want to hear over and over again.
Because she spoils us all the time, we have a feeling that this won't be the last of the stripped takes we'll be hearing from Sidibe.
