Jenevieve impressed with her album Division when it arrived in 2021. Enough so that it warranted the release of a deluxe edition that arrived earlier this year. The singer has moved on beautifully since the set, dropping new single “2NLuv” in July. Now she’s back with her second brand-new track of the year with her single “Love Quotes.”

Jenevieve turns once again to Benziboy, who gives her a slower-paced groove built around the strums of a guitar, tinny drums and a few other synth flourishes. With the mood set by the instrumentation, Jenevieve steps to the mic to get some things off her chest with a Mr. Wrong who just ain’t doing right.

The verses find her stating her case as she lets him know that she can do bad all by herself and that she’s kicking him to the curb. It’s the chorus, however, that drives that idea home as she lets him know his presence isn’t required further. “I don’t need somebody to hold / When it gets cold / And I shiver,” she sings nonchalantly. “I don’t need somebody to blame / Someone to frame / Up in pictures.”

The song is, without a doubt, the bluntest we’ve ever heard Jenevieve get when it comes to matters of the heart. Still, it manages to capture the sentiment perfectly and we’re sure many can relate to her lyrics as they push on past a love that no longer serves them.

If you like a good kiss-off as much as we do or just can’t get enough of Jenevieve’s effortless talent, then you’ll want to listen to “Love Quotes” when you press play below.
