WanMor continues the rollout of singles in preparation for the release of their debut album on Mary J. Blige’s label Beautiful Life Productions in association with 300 Entertainment. After grabbing the attention of Gen X and millennial music lovers with their stunning cover of Boyz II Men’s “Please Don’t Go” produced by MJB in December, the teen quartet drops their first new joint of 2024 with their song “BABY.”
No, WanMor isn’t remaking Brandy’s “Baby” or Ashanti’s “Baby” for their song of the same name. Their “BABY” is an original tune produced by Hitmaka and The Breed with classic soul in its DNA. For the track, the producer’s sample Bobby Glenn’s “Sounds Like A Love Song” (most famously sampled by Jay-Z on “Song Cry”) and incorporate bass, strings and contemporary trap drums.
Atop this sound bed, the Morris brothers take turns singing to a young cutie pie who is that girl and their “BABY.” Chulo is first to rock the mic, and he sings the catchy chorus that opens the song. The youngest brothers Tyvas and Rocco got next on the verses before their eldest brother Big Boy croons the pre-chorus. The soulful siblings sound amazing individually and collectively, which should come as no surprise to anyone who’s ever heard them. These young men can flat-out sing!
Big Boy, Chulo, Tyvas and Rocco will continue to showcase their talent as they prepare to release their debut album later this year. They haven’t divulged any details about the set yet, but they have shared a snippet of their next single to Instagram that already has their growing fanbase fawning over them and falling out. WanMor have a cover of Tevin Campbell’s 1991 slow jam “Alone With You” on the way that sounds superb.
