This past June, not only did we celebrate what would have been our dearly beloved Prince's 61st birthday but there was another milestone to remember: the 35th anniversary of the Purple Rain soundtrack. In case you missed the date and didn't get to commemorate it properly, you'll have a chance to do so in Washington, D.C. this week. On Tuesday, July 23rd, the Vine of the Rhyme crew return to City Winery DC for their monthly wine pairing and album listening experience, and this month's spotlight recording will be this classic soundtrack at what is being called A Glass Of Purple Rain.
DJ Pheelin' It and Dr. DeepCrates will once again be joined by host Tracey Lee for the happy hour event that runs from 5:30-8 pm. The trio will take over City Winery DC's upstairs Wine Garden and paint it purple with an in-depth discussion of Prince & The Revolution's Purple Rain and take the conversation a bit deeper with wine selections hand-picked for the occasion. This event is something cool and outside-of-the-box for both Prince fans and wine aficionados to get into as they pour it up for the Purple One while reminiscing about one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.
In addition to sipping on Purple Rain-inspired wine selections, attendees will witness live art by Jai James and have the opportunity to upgrade your summer wardrobe with something fresh thanks to a very special Shop @ SoulBounce pop-up shop. We'll be there and will have purple Thank God For Music t-shirts and new items from our 2019 Summer Soulstice Collection on hand, so come through to purchase a few concert and festival essentials live and direct from us.
A Glass Of Purple Rain is a ticketed event, and you can cop yours now online via Eventbrite. Tickets will be more at the door at City Winery DC, so advance purchase is recommended.
