Fana Hues is poised to pop out this summer. After releasing two solid albums – 2020’s Hues and 2022’s flora + fana (and its fabulous deluxe edition) – the multifaceted singer, songwriter and producer is on the verge of dropping the third set in her sonic trilogy. Entitled Moth, she’ll deliver the LP on Friday, June 14th, a month before she’s scheduled to join Lucky Daye on his The Algorithm Tour. Before she pulls up in your city, Fana gets ready for the summertime road trip with her latest single “Rental” and its visual.
Hues steers us to the dance floor for this sexy bop with flirtatious vehicular references aplenty. She’s a passenger princess who’s giving all the right directions. “Need you to floor it (baby) / Drive it like it’s stolen (baby) / We don’t know where we going / Ain’t even yours / It’s not that important / Figure it out in the morning,” Fana sings over a thumping electronic groove co-produced by Josh Grant and Anoop D’Souza. She keeps applying pressure on the chorus, cooing, “Please don’t scratch the rental, baby / Rev me up and drive me crazy.”
Released concurrently with a video, Fana debuts a sassy new look in the “Rental” visual directed by Dana Trippe. Rocking auburn curls and a sexy ’fit, we watch Hues hang with her girl crew in a tricked-out Airstream travel trailer. The ladies are on their best baddie behavior as they dance and mug for the camera inside the camper before stopping at a rest area and breaking out into some dope choreography.
“Rental” is the second single from Moth, which Fana introduced with the blissful song “Paper Tigers” and its accompanying music video.
