Diddy’s R&B comeback The Love Album: Off The Grid has had people talking since its release. That should come as no surprise because this is Diddy after all. His name holds a lot of weight, and he amassed a ridiculous roster of talent to bring the album to life including Babyface, Mary J. Blige, The-Dream, The Weeknd, Jazmine Sullivan and Teyana Taylor to only name a fraction of the guest list. Teyana’s song “Closer To God” is one of the project’s standouts, and it’s the latest to get a music video.

Taylor pulls double duty in “Closer To God,” co-starring with Diddy and directing the visual under her production company The Aunties. The two entertainment moguls come together in a futuristic, sci-fi vision of Earth.

The video opens with pods of islands floating in the sky like clouds above the desert beneath, which is where we find Diddy and Teyana. He roams around the dry land looking for her and comes across her black stallion, letting him know that he’s on the right track.

Teyana plays the role of a goddess who lords over the land and the agile dancers who are her faithful subjects. She looks fierce in a few bold and revealing costumes, but she’s most comfortable and vulnerable in the beautiful brown skins she’s in. When Diddy finally finds his way to her, he falls to his knees in praise of her divine feminine.

Diddy praised Teyana in real life in a press release for the video. “She has this undeniable force and raw emotion she brings to every project. When we began conceptualizing ‘Closer To God,’ her name was at the forefront of my mind,” he shared. “I had to convince her to come out of retirement, but I knew she would perfectly capture the spiritual essence and depth of the song. Collaborating with her on both the song and its visual was like harmonizing with a kindred spirit. Together, we’ve created something truly special.”

We’re inclined to agree with Diddy. “Closer To God” is quite a moment. If you haven’t found the time to listen to The Love Album: Off The Grid yet, make sure to add it to your queue on your digital music service of choice. With 23 tracks and clocking in at almost 1.5 hours long, Diddy packed a lot into this album that’s definitely worth a listen.
