There is no shortage of events to commemorate and celebrate Juneteenth this year from sea to shining sea. You can now add another to the long list with the announcement of the JUNETEENTH: A Global Celebration Of Freedom concert and live television special. Presented by Live Nation Urban and LA Phil, the event will take place on Sunday, June 19th at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and be broadcast live on CNN.

This concert is being called a "once-in-a-lifetime musical celebration of Juneteenth" and "a musical celebration of Black freedom and excellence." However, we'd also add that it will be an unabashed celebration of Black music during Black Music Month with an all-star lineup of Black artists across genres scheduled to perform.

Taking the stage at the Hollywood Bowl will be a talented who's who. The artist roster boasts beloved groups Earth, Wind & Fire, The Roots and Mary Mary. Soul and R&B will be well represented by Anthony Hamilton, Jhené Aiko and Lucky Daye. Michelle Williams will be on tap with her gospel grooves. The always fabulous Billy Porter will bring a pop sheen to the festivities in a Pride Month crossover. Killer Mike and Amir Sulaiman will hold it down for hip-hop, Mickey Guyton will ride for country music and there's no telling what the multitalented Robert Glasper will pull out of his deep bag of musical tricks.

Heading up JUNETEENTH: A Global Celebration Of Freedom will be Adam Blackstone and Questlove who will combine their expertise and talents as the musical directors for the evening. For the first time in its 100-year history, the Hollywood Bowl will welcome the first all-Black symphony orchestra to its stage when The Re-Collective Orchestra performs. The orchestra will be conducted by Thomas Wilkins and Derrick Hodge, who worked together earlier this year with Mary Mary for their performance at Super Bowl LVI.
