Singer-songwriter KIRBY sure knows how to pick ‘em. After teaming up with Lucky Daye for the remix and video of her single "Velvet" last month, she enlisted Philly’s own Pink Sweat$ for the stripped-down version of her juicy track “Apple.” It seems the two are elated with newfound love, as they take turns beaming over the soulful, guitar-laden track. They sum it all up on the chorus singing, “Baby, you keep me fiending, California dreaming / Ever since I found out your name / I can't imagine life without your magic / Ever since I saw you that day / You're the apple of my eye.” Both flex their passionate and perfect vocal muscles as they declare their obsession with their beloved.
The original version of this latest offering first appeared on her celebrated EP Sis, which dropped back in February. Though the remix removes a bit of the drama, the sweetness and sincerity of the original are left intact. She says, “I wanted to strip ‘Apple’ down and make it about the emotion and vocals. Pink brought a vulnerability and male perspective that really hits deep. With all we’re going through right now, I hope this song makes falling in love a little easier.” Whether celebrating your soulmate or contemplating shooting your shot, we can all agree that KIRBY’s knack for creating timeless music is on full display and we’re excited to hear more.
