You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't love even a little bit of Santigold, and she proves exactly that in her new music video for “Who Be Lovin' Me.” The song, a duet of sorts produced by Zeds Dead and featuring ILOVEMAKONNEN, is the second single off of her upcoming album 99¢, set to bless us in January. This album is going to take a look at our hopeless society and making a way in it. Santigold clarified in a press release stating, “It can be dark and haunting and tricky, and freak us out, but it can be also be silly and fun and we can learn to play with it.” “Who Be Lovin' Me” falls on the fun end of things and finds Santigold and ILOVEMAKONNEN telling a prospective partner to shoot their shot before someone else does with lyrics like, “So tell me dear, what's it gonna be?/ Cause I got girls around the world who be lovin' me.”
ILOVEMAKONNEN joins her both on the track and in the video. Musically and visually, his presence is a little lackluster next to Santigold's signature vocals and big personality. The two spend their time in the video navigating a golf cart through the thousands of people at Philadelphia's Made in America music festival that went down this summer. There's twerking, booty shorts, crop tops and plenty of festival madness that takes us back to the long gone days of summer. Everyone shows love for Santigold and ILOVEMAKONNEN who are joined by fellow MIA performers Big Sean, Meek Mill, Fabolous and more who make cameos and hop on the golf cart for antics and shenanigans around the festival grounds. It ends with the duo pulling up on stage for Santigold's all the way lit set.
Check out the music video, which will make you nostalgic for summer and music festival season, and keep your eyes peeled for Santigold's 99¢ when it drops on January 22nd.
