India.Arie Suggests You 'Just Do You'

Admittedly, I was a little worried about India.Arie's comeback after the public backlash about the cover art of her first single, "Cocoa Butter." It was a trivial matter that served mostly as a distraction from the beautiful track and video. I saw the song as a return to form for an artist who represented self-confidence and a genuine connection to her craft and culture. While "Cocoa Butter" served as a delectable starter, I knew that India.Aire had a song up her sleeves that could have mass appeal, a good message and a sound that wouldn't leave soul music behind. That song is "Just Do You." The track serves as the second single from her highly anticipated new album, SongVersation. The uptempo, empowerment anthem produced by Shannon Sanders (who was also behind the boards of Anthony David's similarly piano-driven jam, "Can't Look Down") comes across as sunny and extremely catchy. As we officially begin summer on June 21st, this is just the type of song that people want and need to hear. With two great singles on deck, I am sure we are all looking forward to getting engaged in India.Aire's SongVersation when it comes out on June 25th. [H/T: ESSENCE]
