Losing a loved one is an unimaginable, indescribable pain. When that loved one happens to be a global superstar who’s universally beloved, admired and respected, that loss and pain are amplified. That’s an experience that Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman knows all too well.

As the widow of actor Chadwick Boseman, she was thrust into the spotlight after his death in 2020. She was the epitome of grace in the midst of her grief. While dealing with the heartache of losing her soulmate, the singer turned to music for comfort and her creativity was sparked. That spark turned into a fire and awakened something inside of her. Taylor Simone is now pursuing her passion as a recording artist under the moniker sahn, and she makes her debut with the single “angelsxdemons.”

sahn co-wrote “angelsxdemons” with producer Kayhan Azadi who lays a speaker-rattling foundation of bass and kick drum for her. She floats over the low end with captivating vocals to deliver a thought-provoking message.

“But we all got angels / And we all got demons, too / The way your life will go / Depends on what you follow / Who do you trust in? / Who you listening to?” she provides the listener with food for thought on the chorus. Later in the song, in one particularly arresting lyric, she sings, “Don’t let ego tell your story,” encouraging introspection and reflection.

sahn shared some insight into the record. “‘angelsxdemons’ is a song about self-awareness and self-control,” she clarified. “It’s about coming to the understanding that our thoughts are actually prayers, and by feeding into negative cycles of thinking, we draw more negativity toward us. We have the power to create our own reality based on which thoughts we empower, and which we release.”

The song ends with sahn saying, “OK, that’s it,” but she has so much more to share. “angelsxdemons” is the lead single from her debut album the mornings, which will be released in the coming months and is described as “raw and vulnerable.” Of the upcoming release, she shared in a press release, “the mornings is a story about the most pivotal moments of my life thus far and a few of the important lessons I've learned.”
