Gorgon City & Jennifer Hudson 'Go All Night'

Songs like "Go All Night" are meant for voices like Jennifer Hudson. As we've heard from Mary J. Blige's latest foray, matches like these are really a no-brainer as house music was crafted on the set-up of glossy big beats and even bigger voices to dominate them. Thus, Gorgon City were oh so wise to nab Hudson for their latest single as it's flooded with delicious flashbacks to the days of classic house acts like La Bouche and Robin S. For the very-'90s "Go All Night," Hudson gets to indulge in her signature vocal runs, and shy away she doesn't as she is still on a high from the energy she pulled out for her dance-themed JHUD project. Gorgon City pretty much just step back and let Hudson do all the talking (or singing) and their sleek piano laced rhythms work with Hudson, not against her.

It's not surprising to me that Kiesza, who's got a diva-sized voice of her own, penned the song, as flashes of "Hideaway" come to mind whenever you hear it. Actually, a lot of classic and new house songs come to mind when I heard "Go All Night" for the first time out. But to Gorgon City and Hudson's credit, they elevate what could have been a paint-by-numbers club anthem and make it into something special. If you didn't know that the UK-based duo were releasing their debut album, Sirens, next week, then you'll sure as heck know now as "Go All Night" jolts the memory well and leaves you with high anticipation for whats to come.
