Get Ready For The Salt-N-Pepa Documentary

[Addendum 1/12: Since the posting of this entry I've received a number of misguided comments (most of which have been deleted) regarding the accuracy of this blog post. Worth pointing out is that all three members of the group are directly involved in the documentary. Thing is, I never said they wouldn't be. My statement below is that it "remains unclear" if they were involved, based on the article over at How-Do. No, simply quoting another published piece is not going to the direct source, it's only putting the published piece in a context. By quoting the source and linking to the full text, I have not misguided my readers, I've instead provided them with a conduit to the information that was available. It's up to them to follow it. None of my commentary about the documentary was an absolute declaration of the article's truth. Anyone that has a concern with the accuracy of the information provided by How-Do needs to take it up with How-Do. That debate will not be held at Soulbounce.com. Also, it's worth pointing out that How-Do has their own commenting form. (Funny how that was overlooked in everyone's mission to go after the "easy" target.) Comments on this entry are now closed. Any further discussion can be directed to [email protected]. Welcome to the internet.]

They really are going after the nostalgia aren't they? Push It is the inventive title of a new documentary covering the career of Salt-N-Pepa, but from the report below, it's unclear if Sandy and Cheryl will be active participants. It goes something like "An interview with DJ Spinderalla [sic]
at her LA home will form the centrepiece of the documentary," which probably means Spin will be lamenting for two hours about how she had to pick her show costumes last, Michelle Williams style. More after the bounce.

Legendary female rap group Salt-N-Pepa will be the subject of a new
documentary, produced by Made in Manchester, set to air on digital
network 1Xtra on 23 January. The bolshy girl group, that scored
worldwide hits with 'Push It' and 'Let's Talk About Sex', have enjoyed
a resurgence in popularity of late due to a reality TV series appearing
on VH1 in the US. 'Salt-n-Pepa: Push It' will capitalise on this,
examining the girls' motivations, talents and the legacy they left from
their hits in the 80s and 90s.

An interview with DJ Spinderalla
at her LA home will form the centrepiece of the documentary, which will
also be fleshed out with anecdotes and opinions from luminaries such as
Trevor Nelson, Omar and Jill Scott. 1Xtra's MistaJam will take on the
presenting duties.
