Eric Roberson is currently on his 30th Anniversary Tour celebrating his three decades in the music business that started with his 1994 single “The Moon.” While recently visiting Michigan for tour stops in Detroit and Lansing, he got a lift from Cadillac who provided Erro and his band with whips for the weekend. Roberson documented their journey in Cadillac Chronicles, a three-part series that followed him from the road to the stage.

Part one of the trilogy could have been entitled “The Arrival” as Eric and his crew touched down in the “D” and picked up two 2024 Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum editions. As they made their way around the Motor City in luxury SUVs before the show, Erro narrated the drive while his latest single “You” played softly in the background.

With the Detroit show in the rearview mirror, the guys made their way to Lansing in part two. The heavy rain was no match for the plush vehicles’ safety features and superior engineering. It is clear from the videos that the guys enjoyed the Escalades’ luxurious amenities and cutting-edge technologies such as the front passenger lumbar massage seats, intuitive connectivity systems, entertainment options – like gaming – and the world-class AKG 19-speaker audio system for the approximately 1.5 hour drive.

Part three of their journey commenced after the Lansing show as they headed back to their hotel. Well, that was the plan. However, Escalades make you want to drive and drive and drive. An impromptu stop for late-night cookies turned into a fan meet and greet and was well worth breaking the rules and any diets. By the end of the trip, Erro and the band were fully under the spell of these Cadillacs, and he serenaded them as if they were a long-time love. “Standing out in the rain with some Escalades / Standing out in the rain with some Escalades / Sit back, in a Cadillac / Sit back, in the Cadillac / I got your back, in a Cadillac,” he crooned. Now, that’s love.

We love Eric Roberson and Cadillac and wanted to know more about how the collab came together. We reached out to our innovative, music-loving colleague Juanita Slappy, Head of Multicultural Marketing for Cadillac, to learn more about the project.

“The idea for Eric Roberson Cadillac Chronicles came about organically,” Juanita shared. She saw that Erro had an upcoming performance in Detroit and contacted his team to see if he’d like to drive a Cadillac while in Michigan. “Knowing Eric had written about Cadillac (‘One Time’ with Jill Scott)...I mentioned Cadillac’s ‘Play My Cadillac’ campaign and Spotify playlist, which included one of his songs – which SoulBounce covered. The conversation escalated, and #CadillacChronicles was born,” she continued.

“Eric selected us by including Cadillac in his lyrics, and Cadillac recognized a kindred spirit who ‘drives’ us forward with his music,” Slappy went on to share. “Think of music as a vehicle – it carries emotions, stories and inspiration across genres and generations. Just like you hear ‘Cadillac’ woven into countless songs, it becomes a familiar presence in the soundtrack of our lives. Eric’s music embodies lessons, feelings and experiences. He, like many artists, who choose to include Cadillac in their music, recognize the brand’s connection to their lives,” she continued.

We love to see it! Both Eric Roberson and Juanita Slappy stay doing it for the culture and showcasing excellence and craftsmanship in their respective lanes. This connection with Cadillac was meant to be.
