The original American Idol Kelly Clarkson has been holding it down on daytime TV since 2019. Now in her fourth season of helming The Kelly Clarkson Show, the “Since U Been Gone” singer routinely begins episodes with a “Kellyoke” musical performance. During the popular segment, she sings covers of tracks old and new across genres. Last Friday, Kelly showed her viewers that she’s got the range when she opened that day’s show with a stirring performance of Jazmine Sullivan’s 2020 hit “Pick Up Your Feelings.”

Backed by her house band Y'all and supporting vocalists Laurhan Beato, Jessi Collins and Toni Scruggs, Kelly Clarkson did her extra good live singing. Kells stayed true to Jazzy’s original but brought her own soul, attitude and flair to the lyrics. No doubt inspired by her messy divorce, Clarkson sang “Pick Up Your Feelings” with conviction and truly sounded like a woman fed up. Sis meant every single word.

Kelly Clarkson did Jazmine Sullivan justice, which is no easy feat, and proved once again that she can sing absolutely anything. We wouldn’t be mad to hear more R&B and soul music from her because she’s shown time and time again that she’s qualified. While we add an R&B/soul project from Kelly Clarkson to our musical wish list, prepare to pick up your jaw after you watch her perform “Pick Up Your Feelings” below.
