We thought that the biggest news today would be Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson being sworn in as the first Black woman on the Supreme Court, but then Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter decided to trot out the album cover for act i. RENAISSANCE and break the Internet as only she can.

The cover art for act i. RENAISSANCE features Beyoncé sitting pretty atop a sparkly, holographic horse against a blacked-out background. The silver horsie is eye-catching, but the sight of Queen Bey is downright jaw-dropping.

The 40-year-old mother of three is in the bedazzled saddle wearing a barely-there bikini and body jewelry situation that leaves little to the imagination. Her long, wavy blonde hair cascades down her back as she stares straight into the camera, almost expressionless.

Knowles-Carter may have a poker face, but she will let her music do the talking on act i. RENAISSANCE. The album has been described as a unique blend of dance and country sounds, the former of which can be heard on the lead single “BREAK MY SOUL” in a nod to house music.

Once the act i. RENAISSANCE cover art was revealed across her social media accounts, the image also took the place of her social avatars, which went without a photograph for weeks and started the speculation that something was afoot. In addition to blasting the stunning photo out to the world, Beyoncé shared more details on Instagram about what inspired her to make the album.

“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving,” she wrote in a rare caption about making the album during the pandemic lockdown.

Bey went on to share, “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”

Say less, Beyoncé; our bodies are ready. Beyoncé’s act i. RENAISSANCE sounds like it's going to be quite an event when the album drops on Friday, July 29th. Pre-order/pre-save it now directly from her website.
