'Now The Coast Is Clear' To Groove With Nicolay & The Hot At Nights

They may or may not be working on new material as a group, but the fellas of The Foreign Exchange have been busy. We've been bumping Phonte's sophomore solo set No News Is Good News since it dropped last week. Now, the man behind the beats Nicolay is back with jazz trio The Hot At Nights — whom he collaborated with for his well-received Shibuya Sessions EP — with the new track "Now The Coast Is Clear."

Just as with their previous effort, "Now The Coast Is Clear" is a mashup of the two entities' styles. Nicolay's more international and electronic leanings, represented by his use of synths and programmed drums, is shored up by The Hot At Nights' jazzy sensibilities. The combination makes for a heady listen that makes the listener feel like they're spending a relaxing day on the beach and traversing a crowded metropolis simultaneously. It sounds so good that we hope this is just our first listen of another collaborative project from these talented fellas.

In addition to their surprise reteaming, Nicolay and The Hot At Nights will also play two shows in North Carolina this May. You can find tickets and info about each show on Nicolay's Facebook page while you stream "Now The Coast Is Clear" via Spotify below.
