Some people can’t handle the truth and would rather live a lie. LAYA is not one of those people, however. The creative singer-songwriter catches her man slipping and has questions that need truthful answers in her new single “Need 2 Know.”
Instead of bringing the ruckus after finding herself in an unintended entanglement, LAYA keeps her cool as she confronts her man and his wayward penis. She lays out the messy situation in the first verse.
“Started with a text / But you ain’t get the message / Had to go and check / Turns out it’s the next b***h,” she sings over the slinky, synth and bass-heavy track courtesy of producers Paul Chadwick Norman and Dante Carter. Her sweet vocals belie the salty message she delivers.
“Gettin’ p***y twice a night must be nice,” she snaps on the pre-chorus. “I ain’t telling you to wear some shoes you can’t fit in / But I’m gonna need the truth so come with it / I need to know,” she pleads leading into the chorus. She has every reason to leave, but she wants to talk it out, hear his side and make it work, if possible.
After bringing fans the potent track “F’d Up” in July, LAYA keeps on keeping it real with “Need 2 Know.” Both songs will find a spot on her upcoming EP Bet That, her second release on Warner Records following last year’s breakout EP Um, Hello.
