Virginia-based quintet Butcher Brown returns with another installment of their “Mothership Mondays” series and blesses their faithful following with another masterful take on a classic. This time, the band teamed up with Moonchild frontwoman Amber Navran to tackle Erykah Badu’s “Time’s A Wastin” from her year 2000 classic album Mama’s Gun. The live recording sticks closely to the original, maintaining its deep and penetrating groove, while Amber’s signature vocals add to the soothing space.

This latest installment comes at a busy time for both Butcher Brown and Moonchild. After the pandemic put a halt to live shows, Butcher Brown is no doubt utilizing these sessions to stay in musical shape and prepare for their upcoming run of eight shows over the course of four nights at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City starting on Thursday, February 24th. Meanwhile, following a slew of stunning singles, Moonchild is preparing to release their fifth studio album Starfruit this Friday, February 11th before embarking on a tour across North America and Europe in support of the project.
