Ahh, GoldLink. The DMV rapper dropped his pretty dope sophomore set Diaspora at the start of this summer. Unfortunately, it didn't garner the attention that it rightfully deserved (which is probably why he's been acting out on socials as of late). But unmet expectations don't stop the show, and he still has an album to promote. On that wave, GoldLink is finally dropping the video for his single "Joke Ting."
Like all the videos from the set, "Joke Ting" is an arresting visual that shows the rapper's flair for the cinematic. The main plot of the visual follows the song as he flexes his gangsta around a gritty urban neighborhood. This leads to a few eye-popping shots. At one point, he shoves an unlucky thug into a dryer and the camera shows us GoldLink from his rotating perspective. In other shots, he's rolling three-deep in lockstep with his lady Justine Skye by his side in a shot reminiscent of Spike Lee's infamous dolly scenes. Through it all, the rapper's fly and quirky aesthetic is brought front and center, making this one another memorable clip in a career full of them.
You can get an eyeful of GoldLink's unusual visual style when you press play. After you do that, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Diaspora.
