Bounce-Worthy crew Columbia Nights brought their talents up the coast to New York City's Neuehouse to give select music lovers a taste of their sound with a private "listening experience" that showcased not only tracks from their previously released EP, Dawn | Dusk, but a few new tracks from their upcoming second project as well.
The band, which includes Hayling Price, John E Daise and Jason Edwards, brought along vocalist Vaughan Octavia for the ride and treated the intimate audience to a short DJ set full of alt-soul favorites before the crew manned their instruments. What followed was an aural treat, with their marriage of jazz, soul, R&B, hip-hop and electronic influences filling up the entire space and even stopping those not in the building for the performance in their tracks to inquire just who was making such beautiful music.
After the performance, we were able to squeeze a few details about the upcoming project from Hayling, however some details the crew wants to keep under wraps until the album is released. We can reveal, though, that the new set will be an evolution from the jazzy soul sound offered on Dawn | Dusk and that a few of our DMV SoulBounce faves will be making appearances on the project. And, most importantly, the group is eyeing a spring release for the full-length (!!!) album.
While you get your minds right in order to receive what will most definitely a musical blessing this spring, take a peek at some of the hot shots from Columbia Nights' performance and keep your eyes on SoulBounce for more updates.
