British singer-songwriter Elmiene has come a long way since his song “Golden” was featured at the Virgil Abloh tribute show, which put him on the map at the tail end of 2021. Since then, he’s continued making a name for himself with the release of his debut EP EL-MEAN earlier this year. And now he’s making waves as the latest signee to the famed Def Jam label. To mark the occasion, he’s released the single “Mad At Fire.”

“Mad At Fire” finds the artist having a musical heart-to-heart as a relationship has come to its natural end. Elmiene isn’t callous about this, though, instead encouraging that they both hold on to the love they had as they each move on.

“Would you be mad at fire / When you know it will burn away? / Would you be mad at water for flowing endlessly?” he sings on the chorus as a guitar strums and the kick drum thuds away. “Don’t you be mad at me when I loved you every day / I am just being me, girl / Don’t push me away.”

The song is a perfect introduction to the masses who might not be familiar with Elmiene and his talented ways. It also serves as a strong showing for his first major label outing. You can check out “Mad At Fire” when you press play below. After that, you can also watch him making his debut on Later...With Jools Holland with a performance of his unreleased song “Marking My Time.”
