Quiet as it's kept, Lalah Hathaway is one of the hardest working artists in the game right now. When she's not busy slaying in the studio and crafting timeless gems like her latest video, "honestly," the GRAMMY winner can often be found on the road, touring and performing around the globe. With the release of her new single and news of the album of the same title comes news that Hathaway will be heading out on tour in support of her eighth studio album at the top of the year. The first leg of The Honestly Tour is set to kick off Tuesday, January 16th in St. Louis before winding its way across the eastern United States through the month's end.
In addition to hearing both new and classic material from Hathaway, concertgoers can also look forward to hearing from the best local talent their city has to offer. That's because she is giving local musicians the chance to open up for her on tour through a new online competition, #IWantToOpenForLalah. In a video announcement posted to her website, she explains that all hopefuls need to do is upload a video of them showing off their skills and post it to either Instagram or Facebook along with the hashtag. If she likes what she hears, then those lucky performers will have a chance to warm up the crowd before Hathaway takes the stage, in addition to releasing their single on her music label, Hathaway Entertainment.
Prior to launching her tour, the singer will celebrate the album's release with her L.A.-based fans with an in-store album signing and private performance on November 7th. The event is slated to take place at Amoeba Music and will provide fans with the opportunity to meet her in the intimate setting. She'll then head east for a one-off performance at New York City's Highline Ballroom on November 13th. Peep her contest announcement and her tour schedule below to see if Hathaway will be gracing a stage near you in the near future.
