Elle Varner Goes Into The Deep End, And She Doesn't 'Care'

Love is a battlefield --- thank you Pat Benatar for schooling us all on that. As we are human, we always have to have heavy arsenal locked and loaded in order to fight in those trenches of romance. As the battles wages on, for some, the battle is even harsher. Like Marsha Ambrosius and Alicia Keys before her, Elle Varner delivers a message on the equality of love by focusing on certain aspects of love that are less celebrated and she does so in the classy visual for "I Don't Care," the next single off of her debut, Perfectly Imperfect. In the video, Varner gives us three scenarios (one of which she's a part of) of interracial and same-sex romances and the criticisms and sneers that rain down on them because of their choices to love in a different fashion. As she relays in the song --- all of them are going into the deep end --- but at video's end Varner and her cast of characters don't care or need the approval because they know that love always conquers over the negative. With a visual this thought-provoking and a song this rousing, Varner continues to separate herself from the pack as she brings some real honesty back into the R&B arena.
