Get Funkineven & Fatima On The 'Phone Line'

At the beginning of this month we brought you the track "90s Vibes," the first song to surface off Funkineven and Fatima's hotly anticipated Phone Line EP. Well now the talented duo, both of whom are signed to British indie label Eglo Records, have dropped the video for the EP's title track, and it's certainly one not to miss. Taking cues from the LA boogie/funk scene, in particular Dam-Funk (who Fatima has collaborated with), Funkineven delivers a stuttering, synth and drum-heavy beat for Fatima to rap/speak over. Funkineven even gets in on the action himself by providing supporting vocals. This is a different look for Fatima, whose smooth, soulful vocals usually take center stage, but we are certainly not complaining as this has been on repeat here at SBHQ. The video is a fun, bright and colorful '80's retro-tinged affair that complements the overall sound of both the track and the EP as a whole. Currently the EP is only available on 12" vinyl, but there is a digital release lined up. Until then you can listen to snippets of all four tracks here.
