Little Dragon Reveal The Secrets To Their Soulfulness

Electronic soul group Little Dragon recently sat down with SoulCulture TV during a trip to the UK and had quite a lot to say
about how they got so, well, soulful. For a very long time I thought lead singer Yukimi Nagano was an
earthy Nigerian with natural hair. Turns out she's a Japanese-Swedish woman with an ironic hair cut. No
matter. Little Dragon's new album Ritual Union bangs incredibly hard, which makes it so interesting to
hear how they were influenced by classic artists like Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye and more modern singers such as Faith Evans and Brandy halfway across the world.
If that ain't the traveling power of music, I don't know what is. Many R&B artists right here in America can't
touch the sonic heat these Swedes are bringing, which is a little sad. Peep the vid for more, including the group singing The-Dream's praises and a comical moment when Yukimi admits she had no idea who Drake was when he bogarted his way onto "Wildfire," their collaboration with SBTRKT.
