Bounce-Worthy: Fredericks Brown

We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: New Zealand has been bringing some fire lately on the musical front. Aside from Electric Wire Hustle and Tama Waipara, we now have Fredericks Brown to add to the list of artists bringing their brand of soul worldwide. Fredericks Brown is a trio consisting of New Zealand natives keyboardist Steph Brown and trumpeteer and guitarist Michael Taylor along with vocalist Deva Mahal, daughter of legendary bluesman Taj Mahal. Their latest effort, Out Of the Rain, features soul that flows easily into an accessible although bluesy lane. I’m intrigued to hear more from them, especially after hearing “What Lies Within,” which is below. Take a listen for yourself and then head on over for their MySpace page for more streaming goodies from their album.
