Jennifer Hudson: “I Will Always Love You”
54th Annual GRAMMY Awards, 2012
It is true that the show must always go on, but when Whitney Houston died the day before the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2012, it’s any wonder how people were able to pull themselves and their emotions together for music’s biggest night on that particular night. But somehow, someway the show did go on, with a tribute to the late singer included at the eleventh hour. Soul powerhouse Jennifer Hudson was called on to sing in Whitney’s honor, and she did Houston proud with a soul-stirring rendition of her record-breaking, GRAMMY Award-winning hit “I Will Always Love You.” The fresh wound of Houston’s untimely passing was all too real, but Hudson provided a much-needed musical balm.
