Muni Long is a hitmaking machine. Her 2023 single “Made For Me” is her latest song to hit No. 1 and go platinum. To borrow a line from the Commodores’ classic “Brick House,” she can’t lose with the stuff she use. Muni’s winning streak continues with the remix to “Made For Me” featuring thee Mariah Carey.

With Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox on production for “Made For Me” (along with Jordan XL), it was natural for Muni and Mariah to link up for this remix. JD and BMC have collaborated numerous times in the past with Mimi, and Muni is the latest artist to benefit from their magic touch.

On the “Made For Me” remix Long’s first verse and the infectious chorus remain intact. Carey comes through to add her style and flair on the brand-new second verse.

“See, I didn’t know there could be someone for me / Someone completely and fully all mine,” Mariah sings in a staccato cadence. “Every night look in your eyes, touching your body I’m so satisfied / Caught in my feelings whenever you go / Never found love til you, I didn’t know.”

She’s practically in disbelief about this love that she’s found as she continues, “And I, I didn’t really believe someone like me / Someone so lonely and broken inside / Could ever be someone to share all of my life / All of the love that I have deep within.” Muni comes back in to join Mimi as they harmonize on the lyrics, “Twin / Twin, where have you been?” to finish her verse.

We get a little bit of Mariah’s vocal acrobatics on background vocals, but that’s the extent of her flexing her chops. She takes great care not to commandeer the track. The song and its remix were made for Muni Long to shine.
