Back in January, DC-bred singer Nick Hakim warmed our hearts with his bluesy lament to a relationship's demise on "Cold." Though we're still anxiously awaiting his debut EP, set to drop on July 14 via Earseed Records, the good folks at Yours Truly help keep his name on our lips with this intimate interview and acoustic performance. In the clip, they pay a visit to his Brooklyn apartment to chat about the bad breakup that inspired "Cold" before launching into a stripped-down version of the song. Backed with just an acoustic guitar and a drum machine, Hakim's performance still bursts at the seams with an aching vulnerability. While breaking up is always hard to do, in Hakim's hands it's never sounded so good.
