We love us some Rob Milton. The multi-talented singer-songwriter has had a pretty busy year thus far working with Avery*Sunshine as she rolls out her new album So Glad To Know You with a rush of singles and a digital series. But he’s also been working up magic in his own career, and he’s ready to reveal it with the release of his new single “Make U Love Me.”

“Make U Love Me” starts off running from the gate, with a thick, syrupy bass line, guitar and synth flowing instantly from the speakers. The music taps into the emotion of the song as we find Rob trying to make things work with a distant lover. Though his heart has been ensnared by love, he can’t seem to make the object of his affections feel the same. His writing brings his emotions to life, as he evokes images of rain and tears to reflect the gloom and anguish he feels.

The chorus, however, is where he expresses his feelings and the distance he’s feeling best. “I can’t make you love me,” he sings. “I can’t make you touch me / I can’t make you hug me / You’re so far away.”

“Make U Love Me” marks his debut on Avery*Sunshine’s indie label BigShine Recordings, a fitting musical home for him given their fruitful collaboration. We’ll surely see and hear more great things from our prolific friend Rob Milton in the near future. Until that comes, though, listen to his latest when you press play below.
