Anderson .Paak may have just released Why Lawd?, the latest NxWorries album in collaboration with Knxwledge, but he’ll be taking another project on the road later this year. After announcing that he’d be making his Hollywood Bowl debut this September with a special performance of his sophomore album Malibu with his band The Free Nationals and the Color Of Noize Orchestra conducted by Derrick Hodge, he’s decided to make a whole tour out of it.
.Paak is giving the people what they want on The Malibu Tour this autumn. He will perform the GRAMMY-nominated set in its entirety accompanied by The Free Nationals with trumpeter Maurice Brown and the duo GAWD on board as supporting acts. Live Nation is producing the 14-city trek, which includes the Hollywood Bowl show in Los Angeles as well as stops in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Chicago, Philadelphia and the DMV throughout September and October.
Malibu became a breakout success when Anderson .Paak released it in January 2016, and the project went on to be one of that year’s best albums. If he wasn’t on your radar from his Breezy Lovejoy days or after he dropped his debut album Venice in 2014, Malibu blew up the spot and put .Paak on the map. As popular as the album was, though, he never did a full concert tour for it. However, the time has now come, and fans old and new are beyond ready to relive the magic of Malibu live on stage.
