Besides giving us thought-provoking music with his Bounce-Worthy band Sidewalk Chalk, multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Sam Trump has also brought us some great music on the solo tip this year as well. This past February, he got us all in the mood for Valentine's Day with his Love Notes EP. A few months later, it seems that Sam is still in the mood for love as he gives us another memorable love song with "Spain," a collaboration between him Chicago alt-soul singer SharmonJarmon! that's sure to make you fall in love.
"Spain" finds Sam smitten after meeting with a beguiling woman. "Hello my lady, where have you been all my life?" he questions upon the chance encounter. As he sings, horns swirl and guitars play as an introduction to the loveliness that awaits. SharmonJarmon!'s soft, alluring vocal arrives along with a samba-like rhythm that sways ever so gently while painting a lovely picture. "Lovin' you in the moonlight, your kisses sweeter than my mama's pie / As we dance all through the night," Sam sings before Sharmon offers the chorus: "Take our love to Spain / We can go to Spain / Take our love to Spain / Todos los noches / Vamos bailar."
"Spain is a song that takes attraction from 'like' to 'get to know each other better," SharmonJarmon! said about the track. "It's a pure love song, which I feel is something missing in soul/R&B music lately. For our generation, it seems like every song is straight about sex. As a woman, we love being complimented and hearing sweet nothings in our ear. I feel like this song represents the comfort that takes the woman from thinking the guy is attractive to 'I think I like him.'"
We're definitely feeling the love from the track, which has got us looking at flights to capture some of the song's lovely feeling. Luckily, you don't have to look any further than right here to get your first listen to "Spain." And once you're done giving the track a spin, you can support the artist by picking up the beautiful duet on Sam Trump's Bandcamp page.
