We’re just under two months away from the premiere of the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic Back To Black, which is set to bow in May. While we know that we are getting a film about the all-too-short life of the powerhouse singer, what exactly will await us on the soundtrack was a bit of a mystery. Now we know what we’ll be getting as Republic Records has revealed the official tracklist for Back To Black: Songs From The Original Motion Picture.
The standard edition of the set will feature three songs from each of her two albums. “What Is It About Men,” “Stronger Than Me” and “Know You Now” will be pulled from Frank while “Back To Black,” “Love Is A Losing Game” and “Tears Dry On Their Own” are Back To Black’s contributions. Filling out the rest of the tracklist will be “Song For Amy,” an original song contributed by the film’s co-composer Nick Cave, and songs from singers Amy idolized like The Shangi-Las, Minnie Riperton, Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday.
The soundtrack’s expanded edition will feature even more songs from across Amy’s career, including a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge rendition of “Valerie,” “Stronger Than Me” and “Rehab.” It also includes many more of her inspirations with contributions from her idol Tony Bennett, Donny Hathaway, Willie Nelson and quite a few more.
It looks like Back To Black: Songs From The Original Motion Picture will truly be a walk down memory lane and a fitting tribute to the great talent we lost. The soundtrack will be released on April 12th with the movie following just over a month later on May 17th.
