6lack Goes 'That Far' & Covers Erykah Badu's 'On & On' For 'Like A Version'

Triple J’s Like A Version has long been a platform for up-and-coming artists to not only share their latest and greatest with a broader audience, but to pay homage to their faves. 6lack, fresh off his scene-stealing hot 16 at the BET Hip Hop Awards, paid the infamous show a visit to perform his own single, “That Far,” along with giving us his take on Erykah Badu’s classic “On & On.”

Rocking a Sade shirt, 6lack shows us he ain’t with the s**t, performing his latest loosie. While his facial expression doesn’t change much from a look a disinterest, he does give us rap hands and a few other movements to reinforce the harsh lyrics. He might really have #demhands, ya’ll. For “On & On,” 6LACK doesn’t depart much from the original version. The “xzy” singer gives us a monotone delivery that doesn’t quite mimic Erykah’s original flighty delivery. However, towards the end of the set, we get a little more personality out of the singer and the band shows off their skills. At the end of the day, it’s an impressive take. But don’t take our word for it. Just listen to this convo between 6lack and Ms. Badu herself.

6lack is quickly becoming an artist to watch who will soon leave the "up-and-coming" qualifier behind. While he kept it low-key for his performances, he still made sure the audience felt him, even when the words weren't his own. Hit play below and get into #demhands and mellow vibes.
