TLC Gathers A Few Fans To Address The 'Haters'

TLC is gearing up for the release of their self-titled final album in just over a week. After leaking a bevy of tracks, the now-duo (#LongLiveLeftEye) has shifted focus to videos. First, they gave us a clip for the laid-back West Coast jam "Way Back" and now they're bringing a message of positivity and individuality with a clip for their track "Haters."

The treatment for "Haters" is pretty damn straightforward. T-Boz and Chilli appear separately and together against a gray background mouthing the words to the song. Joining them are TLC fans who also mouth the words to the track with unbridled conviction. These are all spliced together with video editing magic and a few random lyrics written across the screen. That's it folks, nothing else to see here. However, the simple clip does come with a message. The song itself preaches about ignoring the haters and bullies who always have something to say and, at the video's end, the ladies include a link to Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation, which was founded to combat harassment and bullying by empowering youth.

While the video for "Haters" definitely has its heart in the right place, we can't help but be a bit disappointed. For one, the song itself was already a bit rudimentary and not up to par with other TLC anthems like "Waterfalls" and "Unpretty." Secondly, TLC has always been known for their eye-popping videos and this one is just OK at best. Guess the age of low-budget videos is unkind to even superstars.
