Opening an awards show, especially one as anticipated as BET Awards 17, isn't easy. At least it isn't for folks not named Bruno Mars. That's because Mr. 24K Magic himself made it look like child's play last night when he popped the top of the BET Awards with a lit performance that got everyone hype for what was to come next.

His song choice, "Perm," was the perfect one to kick things off. The song, about relaxing one's attitude and having a good time, is a funky throwback with a modern edge that is a standout from last year's 24K Magic. Bruno and The Hooligans brought the fun with matching baseball jerseys and impeccably coordinated dance moves as they literally moved all over the stage. But that wasn't all, as Bruno and crew also mixed in musical references and cues from Miami Bass to OutKast's "The Way You Move" to MC Hammer. And they were just getting started. Just when the crowd thought things were slowing down, they stopped everything to interact with different sides of the audience, calling them out for not being live enough. To inspire them further, they scooted and moved across the stage like men possessed.

Say what you want about Bruno's brand of pop/R&B, but you can't say that he doesn't put on a damn good show. See what we mean by peeping Bruno and company laying the audience back with "Perm" below.
