JONES Strips Back To Bring Us Her 'Acoustic' EP

JONES' mellow, soothing take on soul was one of our favorite things of last year, especially when she dropped her debut album New Skin. While the album was without a doubt an amazing introduction, one of the things we fell in love with upon discovering her were her stripped down, acoustic originals and covers. It looks like JONES loved them just as much as we did, as she's recently released an EP simply titled Acoustic that gathers some of our favorites and even some surprises.

On the eight-song set, you'll find stripped back versions of her album tracks "Melt," "Indulge," "Hoops" and "Wild." As well, you'll get two of our favorite covers that she's done: "How Deep Is Your Love" and "Valentine Virus." However, while revisiting these tracks in their natural, simple state is a wonder to hear in and of themselves, JONES was smart enough to also give us two brand new songs to indulge in. First up is "Whole," which is also her new single, a haunting ballad about finding your better half that has a bit of contemporary edge thanks to the vocal arrangement, which offers a nice contrast to the song's piano. "Becoming" is more traditional in its approach, once again pairing her vocal with piano for a more somber, introspective track about discovering one's self.

Acoustic is the perfect complement to New Skin and the perfect listen if you're looking for a soothing, comforting slice of  pop/soul. You can stream the set in its entirety here and pick up your copy right now on Bandcamp.
