After bringing home a slew of awards and recording a duet with actual stars, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that 2015 was a prodigious year for John Legend. Fueled by his creative momentum, the soulful singer has kept up the pace throughout 2016 -- serving as executive producer for both Underground and Southside With You, raising awareness about social justice, contributing to movie soundtracks and performing incredible duets with artists like Muddy Magnolias, Tiësto and Andra Day. Not to mention becoming a new dad and celebrating the birth of his daughter. As a coda to his crescendoing year, he plans to release a new album entitled Darkness and Light on December 2nd.
John recently shared new song "Love Me Now" as a preview of what to expect on the new project, and we're definitely ready for more of his evolving sound. With help from GRAMMY-nominated producer Blake Mills and guest features from Chance the Rapper, Brittany Howard (of Alabama Shakes) and Miguel, the album promises to deliver in a big way. Mills expounds further, “Darkness and Light is John Legend’s manifesto. Following the tradition of Soul/R&B music that celebrates love and challenges indecency, Darkness and Light digs into John's long-standing devotion to social justice, the challenges and rewards of a marriage constantly in the public eye and the recent birth of his first child, Luna. This record goes against the grain, boldly reminding us that though darkness is abound, it is the light that will ultimately push us forward.”
Unfortunately, we still have to wait another month before we get our hands on Darkness and Light.
