If you've ever been in attendance at a Gregory Porter concert, you can attest to the fact that it's more than just a performance, it's an experience. Obviously, his luxurious baritone voice alone is worth the price of admission. But his bonhomie and genteel charm have a way of reaching out and speaking directly to your soul, adding warmth and color to his music and leaving a lasting impression. Such was the impact with the folks over at NPR Music during his recent Tiny Desk Concert appearance, now available for public viewing.

With sole accompaniment by Chip Crawford on the piano, the GRAMMY-winning singer's music brought healing comfort during a difficult time. All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen revealed, "When Porter visited NPR, we'd just learned that our colleague, photojournalist David Gilkey, had been killed while working on a story for NPR in Afghanistan. When Porter began singing the calmly beautiful 'No Love Dying,'... this song of compassion and hope, from his Grammy-winning 2013 album Liquid Spirit, was just what we'd needed."

Mr. Porter follows the poignant ballad with the titular theme of his current project, "Take Me To The Alley." Even the pianist seems transfixed by the stirring delivery of this social commentary piece. Closing out the three-song set, the jazz man cautions and captivates with the heartfelt love song "Don't Be A Fool." Watch the incredible performance below and check his website for tour dates (both international and stateside) so you can experience Gregory Porter live when he comes to a city near you.
