We were already going to tune in to OWN's heavily anticipated new show Queen Sugar on the strength of Ava DuVernay's name alone. But when we learned that the multi-talented Meshell Ndegeocello would be providing the series with an original score, the show instantly became must-see TV in our book. Now, with the weeks diminishing until its September premiere, we get a much fuller look into the show's Bordelon clan.

The siblings — Nova (Rutina Wesley), Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) and Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) — are reunited in their Louisiana hometown after the death of their father. Though each sibling has their own drama going on in their life, they have to come together to help run the family's sugarcane farm, which has seen better days. With the high caliber of actors involved and the skilled hand of DuVernay guiding the ship (not to mention Meshell's entrancing music serving as the soundtrack) we're almost certain that Queen Sugar will be appointment television this fall.

You can check out the extended trailer for what will surely be another sensation for Oprah Winfrey's network below. As well, be sure to tune in to the show's two-night premiere on OWN on September 6th and 7th at 10 p.m. ET. After that, the show will resume its normal schedule, airing Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
