Andra Day Continues To 'Rise Up'

Andra-Day-Rise-Up-Still

Andra Day's rise to the top just won't stop. The R&B newcomer has seen her shine grow tenfold, playing the GRAMMYs, landing the cover of ESSENCE, a coveted ad campaign with Coca-Cola and McDonald's and even had her song featured in a Beats By Dre campaign, all thanks to the magic of her inspirational ballad "Rise Up." Surprisingly, though, the track that put Andra on the map never had its own video. That is, until now. Teaming up with famed director M. Night Shyamalan (yes, that M. Night Shyamalan) the singer finally brings us a visual to accompany the emotional track.

The clip tells the story of a couple getting ready for a night out. But it's not as simple as that. It begins with a husband leaving his wife an early morning message that he wants to take her out on a date. As the video goes on, we discover that the husband is actually paraplegic, so getting ready consists of his wife bathing and dressing him and then getting dressed and ready herself. This loving gesture that many take for granted is paired with scenes of Andra singing in an empty cafe, becoming the soundtrack to a sweet moment. But, in a surprise twist (this is M. Night Shyamalan we're talking about) it turns out that empty cafe is where the date actually ends up taking place. Awww!
