With Thanksgiving mere days away, TV shows are trotting out their themed episodes to get everyone in the spirit. Today on Steve Harvey's daytime talk show he rolled out the "Thankful Hour" to celebrate this season of giving, and we're thankful that he had one of our favorites, Jill Scott, on as a guest.
Jilly from Philly first sat down with Steve for an interview segment that was filled with jokes (the story of where they first met is a hoot), endearing stories from Jill about her upbringing and the strong women who raised her and talk of her Blues Babe Foundation. The host always doing the most even surprised Scott with a visit from one of the students who has benefited from Blues Babe in a truly touching moment.
Steve couldn't let Jill leave without singing a little something, though, and she delivered with a live performance of her track "Back Together." With her full band backing her (hey, Farnell Newton on trumpet, hey!), Scott sang the song taken from her album Woman about her son, Jett Hamilton Roberts, in a riveting and emotional performance. Needless to say, we were riveted to our TV screen this afternoon, and she made us emotional with this meaningful love letter to her child.
