After crooner Adrian Marcel warmed the stage up for Elle Varner, the songstress joined the Howard Theatre audience on December 6th ready to have fun. The first stop on their six-city joint tour, the Washington, DC audience was in for a treat as Elle performed new songs, old favorites and even sang "Happy Birthday" to a few audience members. The self-proclaimed nerdy girl brought a new edge to her show by opening up her set with "Cold Case," from her upcoming album 4 Letter Word. She took it back a few years with "Only Wanna Give It To You," to which her "Ellephants" fervently screamed "yasssssss." From her older catalogue, Elle also performed "See Me Tonight" and "Damn Good Friends" to an audience who screamed all the words.

In the middle of the set, Elle sat down to perform with her guitar and sing mid-tempo songs like unreleased track "Nothing" and even Miguel's "Sure Thing." Unphased by the fog taking over her glasses, Elle said to the audience, "I will stay a dork 'til the day I die...there's no shame." Elle also performed her own soulful rendition of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," dedicating it to everyone in the world experiencing injustice. The songstress ended the performance with her latest singles "F**k It All," "Don't Wanna Dance," and because Elle loves her fans, she brought one on stage. She gave the excited fan a gift and Shmoney danced with her before she went back into the crowd. She capped off the evening with "Refill" and left the stage with the audience wanting more.
