José James Will Honor Billie Holiday With 'Yesterday I Sing The Blues'

Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the legendary Billie Holiday. Leading up to this significant occasion, we're confident that there will be plenty of commemorations to celebrate Lady Day's life and music. One of the tributes that we are excited to hear is a project by a SoulBounce favorite José James, who will honor the music of Billie Holiday on the album Yesterday I Had the Blues.

In an insightful trailer for the album, José explains his vision for the project. Considering Ms. Holiday as his "musical mother," José speaks on how her art has impacted and shaped his approach to music. In the short video, José gives a little sneak peek into the production of the album and some of the amazing jazz musicians that will be featured, such as Jason Moran on the piano, Eric Harland on the drums and John Patitucci on the bass.
